PWSA IS DEALING WITH LEAKS AND FROZEN WATER MAINS IN MILLVALE

Pittsburgh, PA - The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) is dealing with several issues in Millvale Borough impacting water service to a dozen customers. PWSA is coordinating with the American Red Cross to provide Doris Henn (425 Evergreen Road) with a hotel voucher for the next three days.

Over the past week, PWSA repaired a water main and installed a new water valve (East Ohio Street and Lincoln Avenue), discovered two frozen water mains, (Bismark Street and Forest Street), and installed another new water valve (Evergreen Road) in efforts to restore water to residents without water service.  PWSA has reports of residents without water on Bismark Street, Forest Street and Evergreen Road.

PWSA had leak detection crews on site for the past two weeks trying to determine the cause of the water outage.  The Authority will remain on site troubleshooting and providing bottled water until the issue is resolved.

PWSA acquired the Millvale Borough water system in 2009.  The system has old infrastructure and small water mains, with some installed above the frost line.  PWSA will continue to invest in the Millvale System and make improvements.

Any customer who needs additional information should call PWSA Emergency Dispatch 24/7 at 412.255.2423.

The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) provides water and sewer services to more than 300,000 consumers throughout the City of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.
