Pittsburgh, Pa - The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) is refurbishing the inside and outside of the two Allentown twin water storage tanks located on Science Street in Allentown. The PWSA contractor is already mobilized on site and construction is expected to begin later this week.
The project consists of two phases, one for each tank. During Phase I and II: the contractor is scheduled to work Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. PWSA anticipates these hours to change by the end of September and will provide an updated schedule at that time.
The refurbishment consists of sandblasting, painting and various repairs to the steel tanks. Residents in the areas should anticipate noise and debris during working hours. The PWSA contractor will minimize inconvenience to residents to the best of their ability. The contractor will have environmental, health and safety controls in place as required by the regulatory agencies.
The PWSA contractor will be parking their vehicles directly outside of the fence on City of Pittsburgh property as their permit allows.
Please note there is another construction project in progress on Science Street that has no relation to this project or The PWSA.
PWSA appreciates your understanding during this construction project.
