Pittsburgh, PA –The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) will kick off their new partnership with RedZone Robotics. RedZone is a Pittsburgh based company utilizing robotics and software that was developed in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University.
PWSA contracted with RedZone to inspect sewers with the world’s only unmanned condition assessment tool, the Solo. PWSA is required to inspect sewers as a part of our Consent Order and Agreement with the PA Department of Environmental Protection. The RedZone Solo doesn’t use the typical cabled truck and operator and, therefore, provides the ability to inspect multiple sewers simultaneously saving time and cost. The PWSA was averaging approximately 80,000 linear feet in four months using traditional televising methods. RedZone will complete the same amount of work in 6-8 weeks.
RedZone will begin inspections Monday June, 22, 2015 in the Beechview and Brookline neighborhoods. Crews will be working Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am – 9:00 pm. Trucks and uniforms will be marked with RedZone Robotics and will also carry a letter of authorization.
