Pittsburgh, PA - The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) will install new 8-inch water mains, to replace existing 6-inch water mains, in Upper Lawrenceville as part of its Capital Improvement Program. This project will also include installation of new service laterals, and hydrants.
The first phase of this project involves waterline replacement beginning Monday, August 3, 2015, with expected completion in the fall of 2015. The following areas will be impacted:
- Keystone Street (55th Street - McCandless Avenue)
- 53rd Street (Natrona Way - Holmes Street)
- Holmes Street (53rd Street - 54th Street)
Working hours will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During work hours only, the street on which the contractor is working will be closed to all traffic, other than public safety or emergency vehicles. The street will be re-opened to all traffic at the end of the day.
The PWSA contractor will implement and maintain erosion and sediment control measures, parking restrictions, and traffic controls. The contractor will also repair and replace impacted combined sewer lines and associated structures, if applicable.
Water service to customers will be maintained throughout the project. Planned water service interruptions will be performed with a minimum of 24-hours advance notice, and should take less than 8-hours per occurrence.
