Last Friday, The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) received approval from PennDOT to reconstruct the final two lanes on Forbes Avenue in Oakland adjacent to the CMU campus. PWSA contractors started construction this week and will pour concrete for strength testing, with a scheduled reopening of all lanes by the end of next week.
After the road is reopened, paving will require a road closure of approximately 1 ½ days, weather permitting. Notification will be sent out in advance of this final closure.
The teamwork from multiple entities, including PennDOT, PWSA, the City of Pittsburgh, and CMU to accomplish the complicated scope of work in this timeframe is to be commended. Public safety remained at the forefront for everyone concerned, and we greatly appreciate the patience of the public as we complete this project.
