PWSA IS MONITORING ODOR ISSUES IN EASTERN NEIGHBORHOODS

In response to odor complaints from some customers, PWSA is flushing the water system in eastern neighborhoods of the city. The odor appears to have resulted from a temporary shutdown of the water pretreatment process to allow operators to perform maintenance and repair activities.

The public can be assured that PWSA’s drinking water has received all required treatment and disinfection. Ongoing tests of the water quality leaving the plant show full compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act standards.

PWSA will monitor those areas experiencing the sulfide odors and continuously flush the impacted area by opening fire hydrants. We apologize for the inconvenience, and expect resolution within the next 36 hours.

Any customer who needs additional information should call PWSA Emergency Dispatch 24/7 at 412-255-2423.
