PWSA Advisory Notification

A PWSA CONTRACTOR WILL INSTALL A NEW 12’’ WATER MAIN, CONNECT SERVICE LINES AND HYDRANTS, AND REPLACE STORM DRAINS ON BATES STREET IN SOUTH OAKLAND

Beginning tomorrow evening, Tuesday, June 30, PWSA contractor crews will work Monday through Friday from 9:00 p.m. until approximately 5:00 a.m. each weeknight, until Thursday, July 30.

Bates Street (Boulevard of the Allies – Second Avenue) and the I376 ramps to and from this section of Bates Street will be closed to traffic during work hours only.

Detours will be posted as follows according to attached color-coded maps:

Southbound Route 885 Detours Map

Southbound Route 885 (Boulevard of the Allies to Second Avenue) (Green)

  • Turn left onto Zulema Street
  • Turn right onto Bates Street
  • Turn right onto Boulevard of the Allies
  • Take right lane toward I-376 West (Downtown)
  • Take Exit 71A (Grant Street)
  • From Grant Street, turn right onto First Avenue
  • Turn left onto B Street
  • Turn right onto Second Avenue
  • End detour

Southbound Route 885 to Eastbound I-376 (Red)

  • Turn left onto Zulema Street
  • Turn right onto Bates Street
  • Turn right onto Boulevard of the Allies
  • Take right lane toward I-376 West (Downtown)
  • Take Exit 71A (Grant Street)
  • From Grant Street, turn right onto Boulevard of the Allies
  • Take right lane to ramp toward I-376E
  • End detour

  • Turn onto Technology Drive
  • Turn right to stay onto Technology Drive
  • Turn right to stay onto Middle Access Drive
  • Turn left onto Second Avenue
  • Continue straight onto Second Avenue
  • Turn left onto B Street
  • Turn right onto First Avenue
  • Turn right onto Grant Street
  • Turn right onto Boulevard of the Allies
  • Continue straight onto Boulevard of the Allies
  • End detour

Northbound Route 885 to Eastbound I-376 (Orange)

  • Continue straight onto Second Avenue
  • Turn left onto B Street
  • Turn right onto First Avenue
  • Turn right onto Grant Street
  • Turn right onto Boulevard of the Allies
  • Take right lane to ramp toward I-376E
  • End detour

Westbound (Inbound) I-376 to Bates Street (Northbound 885) (Blue)

  • Continue on westbound (inbound) I-376 past the closed exit
  • Take the Grant Street (Exit 71) off-ramp
  • From Grant Street, turn right onto the Boulevard of the Allies
  • Follow the Boulevard of the Allies back to Bates Street
  • End detour

  • Continue on westbound (inbound) I-376 past the closed exit
  • Take the Grant Street (Exit 71) off-ramp
  • From Grant Street, turn right onto First Avenue
  • Turn left onto B Street
  • Turn right onto Second Avenue
  • End detour
