PWSA kicks-off 2021 with a new, modern billing and payment portal

12/30/2020
Existing eBill customers and those currently using autopay can update payment information on January 5th.

On New Year’s Day, the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority will launch a new billing and payment portal to provide customers with a more streamlined, easy, and convenient way to receive, view, and pay their monthly bill.

The new payment portal is intuitive to use and provides customers with a variety of options to pay their bill. It features two distinct portals for paperless billing and one-time payments, expanded options for retail payment locations, and improved automated prompts when paying by phone.

“The new portal modernizes our billing system, provides customers with an easier way to manage their account, and offers more convenient payment options,” stated Will Pickering, PWSA’s Chief Executive Officer. “We encourage you to explore the new portal and hope that you’ll find it easier and more convenient to use.

Transferring To The New Portal

On January 5th, existing eBill customers will be automatically enrolled in the new paperless billing portal on  and will receive an email from ebilling@pgh2o.com to confirm their account. All information except payment card information will transfer, and customers will have to re-enter scheduled or automatic payments associated with a credit or debit card after confirming their account. Customers who associated their former eBilling account with bank account information and bank autopay settings will not have to re-enter this information, it will automatically transfer to the new portal.

The former online payment portal will close at midnight on December 31, 2020. Customers who have bookmarked this link or saved it to their favorites should remove the link and replace it with the links to the new paperless billing portal or EZ-PAY portal when they are available in the new year. Any payments scheduled to take place after December 31st will not be processed through the old system.

First Payment Tools to Launch

On January 1st, customers will be able to use the new EZ-PAY portal for one-time payments and use the improved automated pay-by-phone system when calling Customer Service and choosing Option #2 to pay their bill.

To help customers with this transition, step-by-step instructions for how to use the new payment portal are available on our website at pgh2o.com/new-bill-pay. The following summarizes the first payment tools to launch.

Using the new EZ-PAY portal, customers can make quick, one-time payments online without having to login or enroll in paperless billing. Simply access the portal from our website and follow the steps to submit your payment.

Customers may also access the improved automated pay by phone system by calling 412-255-2423 and pressing 2. Follow the automated prompts to complete the payment and have your account number, billing zip code, and method of payment available. Customers will have the option to associate a telephone number with their account to fast-track future payments and can opt to receive a text receipt to their cell phone to confirm payment.

Please note that by enrolling in paperless billing you opt out of receiving statements from us by mail.

Improved Paperless Billing

If you’re already using paperless billing, you will appreciate the enhanced options to easily view your bill and manage your account. The portal provides clear instructions, searchable FAQs, and features built-in language translation, so those new to paperless billing will find it easy to enroll and complete tasks.

“The new billing and payment portal is a significant improvement for our customers,” stated Julie Quigley, PWSA’s Director of Administration. “Customers expressed their frustration with aspects of the former system, and we heard you. With the new portal, customers will have an easier time logging in to their account, making payments, and viewing billing history. We are excited to offer an improved payment system and encourage customers to make full use of it.”

For more information about the new billing and payment portal, please visit www.pgh2o.com/new-bill-pay, or contact Customer Service at 412-255-2423 for help with making a payment or for answers to questions about the new payment portal.
