Pittsburgh Water Announces Return of Immersive 'Water Workshop' on June 18

Launched as a series in 2024, this year's Water Workshop attendees can expect an even deeper dive into their sewer and stormwater systems.
Water Workshop 2025

Pittsburgh, PA – Community members from every corner of Pittsburgh Water’s service area are welcome to join 2025’s first Water Workshop on June 18 at the Kingsley Association in Pittsburgh’s East End. Launched as a series last year, this signature event features water and sewer experts prepared to answer pressing questions, discuss the utility’s water treatment and distribution process, and inspire confidence in the water Pittsburgh residents rely on every day.

This year’s Water Workshop is set to place an increased focus on Pittsburgh Water’s sewer and stormwater systems, so even those who have previously attended a Water Workshop will find plenty of new insights in the discussion.

"Providing reliable water, sewer, and stormwater conveyance services is at the heart of what we do," says Frank Sidari, Pittsburgh Water’s Chief Operations & Environmental Compliance Officer. “Our Water Workshops provide an opportunity for our devoted team to connect with the communities we serve, share the science behind water treatment, and highlight our ongoing commitment to water quality, service reliability, and modernizing our city’s water and sewer infrastructure."

The Water Workshop is designed with engagement and learning in mind, enabling attendees to participate and explore at their own pace while connecting with neighbors. Over the course of the event, community members will be given opportunities to explore various facets of Pitsburgh's sewer system and drinking water distribution system. The event also presents an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the results of Pittsburgh Water's most recent Drinking Water Quality Report, also known as the Consumer Confidence Report, an annual publication that details the utility's testing practices and the results of those tests. To explore the annual report, please visit www.pgh2o.com/2024waterquality.

New to this year’s programming, attendees will get a comprehensive breakdown of how the city's sewer system functions, the difference between combined sewer systems (which carry both sewage and stormwater) and separate storm sewer systems (which keep sewage and stormwater separate), and the effects of weather conditions on these systems.

Attendees will also have every opportunity to engage with members of the Pittsburgh Water team, have their questions answered, and even connect with PGH2O Cares team members to gain additional insight into their personal water services. To create a more inclusive and engaging atmosphere, Pittsburgh Water is providing ASL interpretation to translate for those who are hearing impaired. There will also be sandwiches, snacks, and refreshments available throughout!
