Walnut Street Water Main Replacement Project

This project, in the Shadyside neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh, will replace the water main on Walnut Street, between Bellefonte Street and South Aiken Avenue, providing more reliable water service to our customers. This work was planned for the 2021 construction season and has been prioritized due to upcoming street lighting work planned by the City of Pittsburgh Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI).

PWSA's project team hosted a virtual community meeting to discuss the project and answer any questions on Monday, February 22nd at 5:30 p.m. Check out the meeting presentation here

  • All water main has been installed.
  • Crews continue to install new service lines at all impacted properties and coordinate with those who have lead service lines between their building and the curb stop.

Location Details:
Walnut Street (Bellenfonte Street - South Aiken Avenue)

Start Date: February 15, 2021

Completion Date: March 31, 2021

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Traffic Patterns: One-block segments of street will be closed to local traffic during working hours and will be plated and re-opened at the end of the work day.
