Earlier this month, our Technology Services team spent the afternoon volunteering with OurFutureHilltop, a collaboration between Northside community groups Perry Hilltop Citizens Council and Fineview Citizens Council. The effort was coordinated in partnership with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, who also connected us with a similar volunteer project last spring in the Spring Hill neighborhood.
Working alongside staff from the Fineview Citizens Council, our team:
- Sorted through donated items used for community events
- Cleaned and organized several rooms that will serve as storage space and host future programming
- Helped pick up litter and debris throughout nearby Fowler Park and the surrounding streets
The work was hands‑on, collaborative, and surprisingly entertaining, particularly when our team discovered a container full of dog and cat Halloween costumes in the donated items!
Volunteer opportunities like these reflect Pittsburgh Water’s commitment to the communities we serve. While our mission centers on protecting public health and the environment through safe, reliable water services, supporting our neighborhoods in direct and meaningful ways is also a vital part of who we are. After all, the team members who make up Pittsburgh Water are also your neighbors, friends, and fellow Pittsburghers. Small acts of community engagement—whether maintaining green spaces, helping local organizations prepare for events, or simply pitching in where help is needed—help strengthen and support the neighborhoods and communities that we’re all a part of.
We’re grateful to OurFutureHilltop, the Fineview Citizens Council, the Perry Hilltop Citizens Council, and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy for welcoming us and for their ongoing work in the Northside and across Pittsburgh. Our team looks forward to continuing these partnerships and finding new opportunities to pitch in!
