Our Employee Spotlight series provides a snapshot of what it's like to be part of the Pittsburgh Water team in a variety of roles and departments. Below are a few testimonial spotlights.
Kate Mechler, Director of Engineering and Construction for Wastewater, Stormwater, and Green Infrastructure
"Joining Pittsburgh Water was a two-fold decision. First, it provided me with the ability to actually contribute to the betterment of Pittsburgh. Most of our infrastructure was well-constructed 100 years ago, and I want to renew the system in the same way for future generations. Secondly, the people. Everyone is willing to tackle challenges and have fun while doing it!"
Deana Whipp, Public Affairs Associate
"I admire the strides Pittsburgh Water continues to make in providing customers with safe and reliable water services. I was ecstatic to join the Public Affairs team and put my passion for water governance to work at an organization with like-minded values."
Lisa Harris, Truck Driver
"I once delivered a water buffalo to one of our neighborhoods and noticed an elderly couple in their doorway. I offered to fill up some water jugs for them, but they didn’t have any, so we found something we had on-hand, filled it up, and delivered it to them. They were so grateful that they cried!"
Jeff Turko, Senior Group Manager for Water Quality & Treatment
"I like that each day I'm able to contribute to something integral to our city and communities. Pittsburgh Water is a great place to work because we're building the team we need to strengthen and transform Pittsburgh's water system and protect that public asset for future generations."
Mike Jericho, Vactor Operator
"I've met many people in the almost three decades I've been at Pittsburgh Water and have retained relationships as people come and go. By working closely with one another, I've formed bonds with my coworkers, and it starts to not feel like work."
