Will Pickering, PWSA’s Chief Executive Officer, Honored by March of Dimes as Industry Leader of the Year

Recognition highlights new era – one that emphasizes public health and commitment to future generations

Pittsburgh, PA… The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) congratulates Chief Executive Officer, Will Pickering on being recognized by the March of Dimes as the 2023 Industry Leader of the Year. Pickering received this recognition today at the Annual Transportation, Building, and Construction Awards Ceremony.

The March of Dimes Awards highlights local leaders and innovative projects in the labor and construction industry. Presented today at the Westin Pittsburgh, the Industry Leader of the Year award recognizes the progress PWSA has made to fulfill its mission of protecting public health and the environment through the delivery of safe and reliable water services with a commitment to future generations.

Under Pickering’s leadership, PWSA has received national recognition for improving drinking water quality by replacing over 10,000 lead service lines and achieving historically low lead levels, rehabilitating critical water and sewer infrastructure, and implementing assistance programs to ensure all customers can access safe and reliable water services.

Pickering was selected to lead PWSA in June 2020. Before serving as CEO, he was PWSA’s Deputy Executive Director and Director of Public Affairs.

“I am honored to receive this distinguished award and thank the March of Dimes event leadership for this recognition,” Pickering stated. “The talented men and women at PWSA have made this award possible. I am grateful for their stewardship of an essential public resource, their dedication to the Pittsburgh community, and delivering safe, high-quality water services throughout our region,” Pickering said. “I am proud of PWSA’s transformation and our customers can have every confidence that the path we are on today will ensure the quality of their water services for years to come.”

“On behalf of PWSA’s Board of Directors, I would like to congratulate Will on receiving this recognition from the March of Dimes,” Alex Sciulli, Chair of PWSA’s Board of Directors said. “His vision to transform PWSA into a modern, industry leading water authority is well underway. We have entered a new era and I am proud of all that he and the staff at PWSA have accomplished.”
