Drink up! Stay hydrated with tap water you can trust.
Did you know that as a Pittsburgh Water customer, your drinking water meets (and often outperforms) all federal and state safety standards? Drinking tap water is not only safe and cost-effective, but is also good for the environment, reducing plastic bottle use.
Proper hydration is fundamental to good health, especially in the summer. Water regulates your body temperature, lubricates your joints, and flushes out toxins.
Summer hydration tips:
- Drink more than you think: Aim for 11 to 16 eight-ounce glasses of water per day. Adjust if you’re active. Drink water before, during, and after physical activity.
- Carry a reusable water bottle: Keep a reusable water bottle on hand to refill as needed. It's a great way to remember to stay hydrated and helps to avoid single-use plastic bottles.
- Set reminders: If you have trouble remembering to hydrate throughout the day, set alarms to remind you to drink water regularly. Some mobile apps will even help track your water intake.
- Start and end your day with water: Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning and before bed.
- Drink before you're thirsty: Thirst is a sign that your body is already starting to dehydrate, so drink water consistently during the day.
- Flavor your water: Make hydration a treat by adding berries or slices of lemon, lime, or cucumber.
