There are seven sewer rehabilitation work areas in our current program around the service area.

  • Lincoln Lemington Belmar
  • Highland Park
  • Greenfield
  • Overbrook
  • West End
  • Spring Hill
  • Marshall Shadeland

This work primarily involves sewer lining, which is a cost-effective and non-invasive process in which crews install a liner within existing sewers to reinforce the sewer and extends its life. The sewer is accessed via manholes, avoiding costly and disruptive digging in the street.

Sewer lining work also occurs in more limited areas as needed throughout the sewer system. You can visit PWSA's interactive project map to see which streets in your area are receiving sewer lining rehabilitation.

Residents and businesses that will be impacted by sewer lining work will be notified via door hanger 24-hours before work begins. Work typically lasts one day, from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. You will be asked to limit your water usage during this time, as your sewer lateral will be blocked while the liner is being installed. It is also recommended you block your sewer trap with one gallon of water to stop any smells from the sewer liner entering your basement. Sewer traps are typically found in the floor of your basement and look like a small drain.

Door hangers will have contact information for project superintendents and inspectors in the field who can answer questions and address any immediate concerns with the work.
