Pittsburgh, PA – Today the board of the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority voted unanimously to elevate current Deputy Executive Director Will Pickering to Executive Director. Pickering has worked at PWSA since 2016, after previously working at DC Water.
PWSA Board Chairman Paul Leger said: “First, we want to thank Robert Weimar for his service. When we asked Bob to come out of retirement and lead PWSA, we asked him to take on a big task. He helped stabilize an organization that had serious challenges, and the current PWSA is much stronger than when he became Interim Executive Director in 2017. Now, it is time to let Bob and his family finally enjoy his retirement.
We also want to congratulate Will Pickering on being named the new Executive Director effective June 1. Will has been with PWSA for the last four years and has been an integral part of our efforts to strengthen the utility by increasing transparency and expanding public engagement. His leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and other key project areas makes him the right leader for the utility right now.”
Robert Weimar said: “I want to thank the board for the opportunity to serve as PWSA’s Executive Director. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished over the last few years together and I know that PWSA is well positioned for the future under the leadership of Will Pickering.”
Will Pickering said: “Thank you to the board for this opportunity. I appreciate everything Bob has done to help strengthen the organization, and I am looking forward to building upon that progress at PWSA. Delivering safe, reliable water to our customers is our number one priority. From our lead line replacement program, to ensuring water is accessible and affordable for all residents through our Customer Assistance Program, we have big things ahead of us and I’m excited for the opportunity to lead this essential organization.”
Robert Weimar has agreed to stay with PWSA on a part-time basis to provide assistance with the transition and support ongoing operations and infrastructure projects.
Additionally, Jennifer Presutti was announced to replace Pickering as Deputy Executive Director at PWSA. Presutti has served as PWSA’s Director of Finance for the past two years. Prior to joining PWSA, Jen was Director of the Office of Management and Budget for the City of Pittsburgh.
