Pittsburgh, PA - On Monday, June 8, The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) will mobilize construction crews from Mele & Mele & Sons, Inc., to begin water main replacement work on Baum Boulevard, between S. Graham Street and S. Highland Avenue. The main replacement is a result of water main breaks on this portion of Baum Boulevard and will consolidate water service from multiple mains in the street to one. This work is a utility coordination effort with PennDOT to upgrade infrastructure on the street at one time.
Construction crews will work during the night, from 7:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. Monday-Friday, until work is complete. During work hours, there will be one lane of traffic in each direction through the construction zone. After work hours, crews will plate the street and reopen to regular traffic. Anticipated construction completion is September 1, 2020, weather pending.
On June 8, crews will begin by verifying the material of water service lines connected to the old water main. Crews will then start to install the new water main along Baum Boulevard, starting at S. Graham Street. When the new water main is installed, crews will work to connect all service lines to the new water main.
