Stormwater Information Session

Friday, Nov 17, 2023
12:00 - 1:30 PM
Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, Highland 1 & 2

On November 17, 2023 from 12pm – 1:30pm the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) will host a public meeting to educate and update our community about our municipal separate storm sewer system infrastructure (MS4) and our stormwater management plans. This status update will provide community members a summary of our progress, activities, and accomplishments and provide time for public feedback and input.

Community members will have the opportunity to learn about the history of our stormwater infrastructure and discover the different types of sewer systems we have in our city. The meeting will provide community members with definitions for common stormwater management infrastructure such as manholes, inlets, outfalls and catch basins and provide information on how to report issues they might experience or witness.

Information about the types of stormwater pollution that our area tends to see will be presented along with a discussion of how PWSA monitors for these impairments and how we remediate our waterways.

Presenters will include Nicole Benoit from PWSA and Kyla Prendergast from the City of Pittsburgh. The roles of PWSA, the City and other stormwater entities will be discussed as well as the regulatory requirements of PWSA and the City. Information will be presented about completed and planned projects as well as methods used for monitoring and inspecting our work.
