As part of a continued community engagement initiative, the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) is conducting a Business Development Series through June 22. The series aims to provide more information about PWSA services and regulations to small and historically marginalized business owners, building managers, developers, consultants, engineering firms, and contractors. We designed each educational session to bring awareness around recent policy updates, new regulations, available resources, and technology processes to make our systems easier to navigate. PWSA staff members will focus on our most common touchpoints and roadblocks for commercial customers. The remaining topics include permitting, dye testing, backflow prevention, and contracting among others.

"Our Business Development Series is our latest effort to support new and growing businesses to navigate PWSA’s processes," said Chief Executive Officer Will Pickering. "Participants will leave each session with more knowledge and confidence to meet regulatory requirements."

Sessions are held virtually from 9-11 am. Participants may sign up for one session or join the remaining three. The schedule is as follows:

  • May 25 - Do I need a permit? Demystifying the Development Permit Process:  A beginner's introduction to our developer's manual, the development permit process, and how to use our permitting software
  • June 8 - Maintaining Your Business: Backflow Devices, Leaks, Conservation, & Other Maintenance Tips:  All things water and sewer for businesses and building owners after you move into a brick and mortar
  • June 22 - Procurement and Contracting: How to work with PWSA:  Meet with our procurement team to get more information on how to participate in our contracting opportunities

The first session focusing on the stormwater fee and credit program, took place earlier this month and was well received. Attendees found the presentation useful and informative. The recording of the presentation is available online  https://www.pgh2o.com/developers-contractors-vendors/2022-business-development-series.

Register on our website at https://www.pgh2o.com/2022-business-development-series-registration. Registrations will be accepted on a rolling basis.
