Community Information Session: Highland Reservoir Hillside Safety Project

Thursday, Feb 5, 2026
6:30 - 8:00 PM
Online using Zoom

Pittsburgh Water, together with community partners, invites you to a two-part engagement series about an important project near the covered Highland Reservoir. This work will stabilize the hillside and create opportunities to influence sections of landscaping in this beloved park. Your ideas will help guide the design!

About the Project

The state now considers Highland Park’s reservoirs as dams, which means new safety measures are required. Our current focus is on the covered Highland Reservoir at the intersection of One Wild Place, Bunker Hill, and Mellon Terrace. The design will feature modern engineering solutions and new landscaping to reinforce the hillside. Join us for two community sessions to learn about safety improvements and help shape new landscaping in Highland Park!

Join us to help design a safer, greener hillside!

Information Session — Learn the “why” and “how”

You can expect to receive a thorough overview of the project, ask questions, and discuss concerns with the project team. We will provide an overview of the following key topics.

  • Background and rationale for the project
  • Regulatory drivers
  • Opportunities and constraints associated with landscaping
  • A look-ahead for future projects
